If you’ve spent any time exploring Salado TX restaurants, you know the charm isn’t just in the homes—it’s in the local spots that make everyday life feel a little more special. And y’all… there’s a new one you need on your radar.

We recently checked out The Village Cafe & Salado Sourdough, and it’s officially earned a spot on our “you have to try this” list.

A Hidden Gem in Old Town Salado

Located right in the heart of Old Town near the new Salado Chamber of Commerce office, this locally owned cafe is everything you want in a small-town eatery—welcoming, delicious, and full of personality.

Whether you’re a local, visiting for the weekend, or thinking about moving to Salado, this is the kind of place that gives you a real feel for the community.

Why The Village Cafe Stands Out Among Salado TX Restaurants

Here’s why people are already loving it:

  • Fresh, homemade sourdough bread (and yes—it’s as good as it sounds)
  • Delicious lunch options with generous portions
  • Pastries that are hard to say no to
  • Friendly, small-town customer service
  • Convenient location in Salado’s Old Town Square

And for my girls… they carry Alani Nu. That alone deserves a mention.

What We Ordered (Real Reviews, No Filter)

We did a full taste test, obviously.

Becky ordered the BLT on sourdough—the correct choice—and loved it. The portion size was HUGE. Like, half-for-later kind of huge.

Mallory (hi 🙋🏻‍♀️) couldn’t decide between the toasted sourdough PB&J (yes, I know) or the turkey melt. The turkey melt won—double cheddar, no provolone… because apparently my taste buds never matured past age 7.

No notes. Absolutely devoured.

Fresh Sourdough & Family-Friendly Options

If you’re a sourdough person (and honestly, who isn’t?), they have fresh loaves available right on the rack—perfect to grab and take home.

Bringing kids? You’re covered:

  • Kid-friendly breakfast options
  • Applesauce pouches
  • Drinks ready to go

It’s the kind of place that works for a casual lunch, a quick coffee stop, or even a laid-back client meeting.
